Seventy-five men from about 34 Protestant and Catholic churches attended the first gathering of men in Eburru, Kenya, a rural village at 9,000 feet in the hills overlooking the Great Rift Valley (October 2014). Community Chief Nganga also spoke to the men, as did a government health official.
This was possibly the most rural MOV conference to date, and men from the Kalenjin, Kikuyu, Kambo, Luhya, Luo, Maasai, and Turkana tribes attended. One of the attendees who belonged to a nearby hunting and gathering tribe from the forest said he has a few things to teach me next time!
The obvious earnest and enthusiastic response, the caliber of questions, and the group decision afterwards to form an inter-church community men’s ministry made this trip a huge success!
Here’s what two men said: “I am a God-chosen mighty man of valor who ought to stand out and make an impact (positively) to other men, family and society at large.” -Vincent B.
“The Men of Valor conference has opened my eyes to many things that I did not know. I am a mighty man of valor. And I will nothing to do with evil. The teacher was excellent.” -Timothy N
